Qualified Observer Practical Test
This will require a candidate to give a demonstration ride to a Senior Observer. This test will include the initial briefing and, at suitable stopping points in a safe position, a general debrief of situations that arose during the preceding part of the run, referring to the relevant part of the System of Motorcycle Control (IPSGA).
The test will normally be for about ninety minutes, and may be split into two demonstration rides using different scenarios, at the discretion of the Assessor.
At least two problem situations will be posed on aspects of Roadcraft or Highway Code, where the Candidate is expected to give a satisfactory explanation or clarification for the benefit of an Associate preparing for the Test.
NB To remain qualified., a Qualified Observer must continue to fulfil the Observed Run requirement, (ie a minimum of 10 hours of Observed Runs per year) and, every three years, pass a practical re-test carried out by a Senior Observer.
