Howards Deauville

On Friday the 5th March I picked up my new motor bike from Mount Motor Cycles in Port Talbot a new Honda Deaville. I part exchanged my Fazer 600 for the Honda, I started to think I might have made a wrong decision by going down in power from a four cylinder to a V Twin 650cc bike, the difference in performance was apparent that even though I had test rode a Deaville I began to have serious doubts about whether this bike was what I really wanted.

The new bike was higher off the floor than the test bike and to counter act this I need to have the seat cut down by 2" which I hope will have the added benefit of reducing wind pressure, if that fails then I will consider installing a taller screen.

I was also disappointed to find that wind deflectors for hands and feet were an optional extra. As this bike is sold as a tourer I would have thought that this equipment would come as standard on this machine.

At the time of writing this little piece of news fro members I have now had the bike for 4 days, it is now back in Mounts for its 600-mile service. I think that after modifying my seat it may be much closer to being what I am looking for. regarding biking comfort i.e. wind and rain protection.

For me to reach this level of motorcycle comfort I have forfeited the smoothness and acceleration of my four cylinder 600cc Fazer for the thump, thump of the twin cylinder Deaville.I will have to see what happens in the next couple of months who knows I may even go back to the Fazer!
